★ The station or channel is public
Your personal recordings stay on your phone. They are private by default, searchable only by you, and never leave your device unless you choose to share them.
A Station is different. A Station is a public presence — a permanent, searchable archive that anyone can find, browse, and download from. The station owner decides what is available or published. ONDA provides the infrastructure.
These two things coexist in the same app. Recording is always private. Publishing to a station is always a deliberate act by the station (subscriber) owner.
One Station, One Organization
A station is not per-person. One station can serve an entire organization — a company, a conference, a professional association, a university department. Every member of that organization can contribute sessions to the shared station. The station owner controls what gets published, what stays private, and what is restricted behind a paywall.
At the station owner's discretion, the station catalog may be displayed in part or in full on ONDA Nile. Partial publication is fully supported — some sessions public, some restricted, some held entirely in reserve.
Paywall and Access Tokens
Organizations may restrict all or part of their catalog behind a paywall. Users who want to access restricted content purchase a token directly from the station owner. The token unlocks the download.
The station owner is solely responsible for:
Collecting payment from users
Setting prices and refund policies
Paying content contributors their agreed share
All applicable taxes, royalties, and licensing fees
ONDA's only role is delivering the file once the token is validated. ONDA has no visibility into the station owner's commercial arrangements and takes no cut of token transactions.
Station Owner Responsibilities and ONDA Remedies
The Station Owner Is the Publisher
When a station owner activates a station, they become the publisher of record for every session they choose to make available — publicly, partially, or behind a paywall. ONDA provides the infrastructure. The station owner provides the editorial judgment. That distinction is not a technicality. It is the foundation of the relationship.
By activating a station, the station owner accepts sole responsibility for:
The content they publish, in whole or in part
The accuracy and legality of that content
Access controls they set and how they communicate those controls to their audience
All commercial arrangements with their audience, contributors, and any third parties
Collecting and remitting applicable taxes, royalties, and licensing fees
Complying with applicable law in the jurisdictions where their content is accessed
ONDA does not review content before publication. ONDA does not approve or endorse any content published to a station. ONDA is not a party to any agreement between a station owner and their audience or contributors.
ONDA's Remedies
ONDA's enforcement authority is limited to platform access. Upon receiving a credible complaint, a DMCA notice, a valid legal demand, or upon discovering a material violation of the Terms of Service, ONDA may take any or all of the following actions at its sole discretion:
Issue a notice of violation to the station owner and request voluntary compliance
Suspend the station's publishing capability pending review
Remove specific content from ONDA's hosted infrastructure
De-list the station from ONDA Nile
Terminate the station subscription and permanently ban the account
Cooperate with law enforcement upon receipt of valid legal process (subpoena, court order, or equivalent)
What ONDA Cannot Do
ONDA does not represent that it can, and will not attempt to:
Recover `.onda` files already downloaded to user devices. Once a file has been delivered from ONDA's servers, ONDA has no technical means to retrieve or disable it.
Mediate or adjudicate financial disputes between a station owner and their audience, contributors, or any third party.
Enforce the station owner's obligations to content contributors, tax authorities, or rights holders.
Seek damages or provide restitution on behalf of third parties harmed by a station owner's content.
These limitations are not gaps in policy. They are an honest description of what a platform operator controls and what it does not. Every major platform operator — hosting providers, publishing platforms, commerce platforms — operates under the same constraint. Content that has been distributed cannot be un-distributed by the platform that hosted it.
Third-Party Complaints
Any third party who believes their rights have been violated by content on a station should:
Copyright claims — Submit a DMCA takedown notice to ONDA's designated agent. ONDA will follow the standard notice-and-takedown process, which provides safe harbor for qualifying platforms under 17 U.S.C. § 512.
All other claims — Contact the station owner directly. The station owner is the publisher of record and the responsible party for content decisions.
ONDA will provide the station owner's contact information to law enforcement upon receipt of a valid legal process. ONDA does not disclose station owner information to private third parties except as required by law.
Hold Harmless
ONDA Replay, its officers, employees, and agents shall be held harmless from all liability arising from content published to a station or channel. This includes but is not limited to claims arising from copyright infringement, defamation, privacy violations, regulatory non-compliance, or commercial disputes between a station owner and their audience or contributors.
Two Station Types
Private Station — Enterprise, custom pricing
For organizations that need to control access to their content, such as educational institutions, continuing education, and professional licensing bodies. Content lives on its own server infrastructure. They control who can access it and how. ONDA provides the platform and format; the organization is responsible for hosting and access management. Implementation partnerships with IT providers are a natural fit here.
ONDA Nile Station — $19.99/mo (Professional tier)
Content is publicly discoverable on ONDA Nile and on the open web. Because every session includes a full transcript, someone researching a topic can land on a talk from your station through a search engine and hear it directly from the person who said it. The station's archive compounds in value over time — not just for your audience, but for anyone looking for what your curated speakers actually know. The setup involves skinning the station — colors, logo, branding artifacts that propagate throughout all their content — making their brand more discoverable across the platform. Station owners can do much of this themselves using the Archive Identity tool. Those who want help with design can engage IT professionals directly; ONDA can refer but is not in that business.
The Listener Experience — Your Personal Audio Channel
When a listener opens ONDA Nile and identifies themselves with a phone number and one-time code, their "favorite" audio stations float to the top of the tag column as personal presets. Below them is everything else Nile has to offer. Explore by tags and discover by association.
No algorithm. No ads. It's private. It's what you like, remembered.
First visit — browse the full Nile, follow stations that match your interests
Every return visit — your stations are at the top, new content surfaced automatically
The personal layer sits on top of the universal layer — curated for you, open to everyone
Explore the Nile. Discover knowledge.
ONDA Nile becomes a returning experience — not a browse-and-leave page. Listeners come back because their stations are there. Like preset buttons on a car radio, but the content never repeats and the signal never fades.
