How to Use the Transcript

The transcript screen is your workspace. Audio and text are synchronized so you can listen, read, and navigate at your own pace. The grey line can be used as a guide and placeholder.

Karaoke word highlight

While audio plays, the current spoken word is highlighted in yellow. This is your position anchor — you always know exactly where you are in the recording, but the highlighted word may wander off-screen. The Sync function (below) lets you reposition the highlighted word closer to the grey bar.

Sync

Tap Sync to toggle audio-driven scrolling. To reposition the highlighted word:

  1. Tap pause in the audio controls

  2. Tap the Sync button (bottom), freeing the transcript from the audio.

  3. Scroll the transcript with your finger to center the highlighted word.

  4. Tap Sync to lock the position.

  5. Tap Play to continue listening.

When on, the transcript automatically follows the spoken word. When off, scroll freely without losing your place.

Two progress bars.

The top bar is the audio position. The bottom bar is your scroll position in the transcript. When they move together, audio-driven scrolling is on.

Adding index entries while you read

Double-tap any sentence to save it to your Index instantly. For more control, press and hold to select a span of text — then choose Phrase, Tag, or Mark from the menu.

Format and the formatted version

When you tap Format, ONDA cleans up the text with paragraph breaks and punctuation marks. ONDA generates a proforma topic index as well. You'll see a yellow notice at the top of the transcript that reads Formatted — copy & share use the formatted version.

The transcript view still shows the word-by-word text with karaoke-style highlighting. The formatted version is what gets copied to the clipboard and included in any bundle you share.
